Things to do when you're bored and don't want to go on your phone:
Going on your phone and playing games or opening every social media app you have is the easiest way to spend your time when you're bored. However, I think many can agree that sometimes it can get extremely tiring doing something repetitively every day. It is difficult to come up with things to do when you're bored, especially during these times when traveling or meeting up with a lot of people is not an option due to COVID-19. This is why in this article, I will be listing a few things to do when you're bored. These things have helped me keep busy, so I hope this helps!
Write out a list of things to do for the day.
One of the main reasons why I easily get bored is because I have no idea what to do and the first thing that comes to mind is to waste time on my phone. Something that helps me figure things out for the day is to write everything down so that I can get my thoughts organized. If I have some schoolwork that I have to complete, that becomes part of my to-do list. I also write things down that I want to or should do, such as, go shopping or clean my room. After I have written everything down, I rank them in order from most important to least. Most of the time, I put my school work at the top of my list and things like shopping towards the end of my list. This easily gets me going for the day.
2. Get ready for the day.
Getting ready is one way that can help you enthusiastically start the day. Whether or not you have plans, depending on the person, there is a lot that goes into getting ready that can help you use up your time. The important thing is to actually put some effort into whatever you want to do. Try putting effort into choosing your outfit, or perhaps doing your hair, and more. You can listen to music or watch videos on YouTube, Netflix, and such while getting ready if it helps.
3. Do some homework.
Sometimes we can get bored to the point where we want to do some homework. Albeit the fact that we have to, the most challenging thing about it is to actually start. This is the same method I have already mentioned earlier, but something that helps is writing down everything that you have to do. However with this, you can rank it in any way that you think will help you the most. You can rank your work from easiest to hardest and start with the easiest stuff so that you can get them done early, and vice versa, perhaps writing it from whatever is due the soonest to whatever you have the most time for and more.
4. Read a book.
Reading a book might not be the first choice when it comes to finding something to do. Reading books was never my favorite thing to do and even when I thought it was cool or if I wanted to read, I couldn't get myself to do it. Although recently, I have been enjoying reading without being forced to by a teacher or my pare
nts. I am not sure how, but something that might have helped it was by finding a book that I actually enjoy. To be able to start reading, it's important to just do it. Attempt to read a chapter or two of any book and if you don't find it interesting, find another book. Although it is not fun to force yourself or be forced to read a book that you don’t find interesting, once you do find a book that you find engaging, reading will definitely become one way to spend your time when you're bored.
5. Eat food
I think that finding something to eat is one of the easiest ways to spend your free time. Food is something that most people love and when eating something delicious, people tend to focus hard on it. It is extremely easy to do and is an amazing way to waste your time.
6. Go shopping!
Shopping is something that I love to do when I'm bored. I love shopping, which is why I do it often. This helps me stay off of my phone, as most of the time, I'm just walking around looking at whatever I want and I can spend hours doing it. However, with shopping, this really depends on if you enjoy doing it. If you don't enjoy shopping, but still want to try something new, you could ask a friend or two to come hangout with you.
