This year, NIS organized a Halloween Carnival after school on October 31st in celebration of Halloween!
Three years have passed since the last Halloween carnival, and it is reasonable to conclude that this year's event was a big success. Primary (and some secondary) school students roamed the campus playing games, buying homemade halloween treats, and watching some incredible performances while many clubs ran booths that were scattered throughout the campus's outdoor space.
Sticker tattoos, basketball hoops, and other ball games were some of the games and activities at the booths. A photo booth with various Halloween-themed props and a very festive backdrop was also hosted by the yearbook club inside the Raymond Building. Food options included a popcorn machine, waffles and pancakes, cookies and brownies that were individually wrapped, drinks, shaved ice, and sweets. Last but not least, to spread the Halloween spirit and get everyone dancing to the groovy beat during the performances, the high school band played Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Given that it is Pinktober as well, the KPOP dance club performed "Pink Venom" by Blackpink, which led the crowd to clap along. Finally, a number of teachers took the stage to perform, showing off their music and dance skills, which got the crowd going wild!
Not only were there booths outside, but primary school children also had the opportunity to trick-or-treat in the Raymond Building's primary hallway! While knocking on each classroom door and shouting "Trick or treat!" students could stroll down the hallway, receiving candy from each class. There was also a spooky haunted house in the commons area.
Since I am in the student council, I was actually the first person on shift when the tickets were sold at the school's entrance by the high school student council. As soon as the parents entered, there was a very lengthy line of people waiting to get tickets, and they were selling quickly. All tickets were sold within 45 minutes of the event starting!
Overall, the food was amazing, tickets were rapidly sold, performances were so enjoyable, and the event as a whole was so unbelievably lively and festive that it made me realize how much we all missed this carnival. This was definitely one of the most memorable NIS Halloweens ever, and now that Halloween is over, let's see how NIS' Christmas season goesā¦
